Development Awareness
Global Health Education with a Southern Perspective
This international programme aims:
- To ensure that health professionals have the skills, knowledge, value and attitudes necessary for cultural awareness, an understanding of the factors underpinning global inequality in the determinants of health, personal commitment to egalitarian values in relation to wealth distribution and access to health care, and an understanding of the interdependence of global health systems;
- To produce a dynamic network of students and health professionals who are involved in teaching and delivering global health care, who share and promote best practice, foster collaboration and promote advocacy and lobbying with key stake-holders and decision-makers.
We ran our first Global Determinants of Health and Development Course with Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in February 2009.
Global Health Electives in India
Skillshare International India, in collaboration with our local partner organisations, has set up an innovative electives programme for medical students from the UK and Ireland who want to have direct experience of the global determinants of health and different health care needs and delivery systems, with an inside learning experience in India. This programme gives students the opportunity to participate in a six-week programme. Find out more...
