In October 2008, Skillshare International Ireland brought members of eight Irish Non Government Organisations (NGOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs) to visit Skillshare's partner organisations and their projects in Swaziland. The visit raised both funds for the projects and awareness of the development situation in Swaziland, particularly how it affected survivors of gender-based violence and people living with HIV and AIDS. The Irish visit included journalist Stuart Clark, deputy editor of Hot Press magazine. This resulted in extensive media coverage, including:
The Frontline battle against HIV - Hot Press, 19 Nov 08
Hope in the face of despair - Connaught Telegraph, 11 Nov 08
Irish aid workers brave African danger zones - Sunday Business Post, 30 Nov 08
The Last Word with Matt Cooper on Today FM, 11 Nov 08 - Listen to the interview
and several local radio stations.
